Mimzy was “rescued” by Humane Society of the Dunes in July 2019. She was originally at IACS Shelter Rescue Team (formerly called IACS Rescue) and Indianapolis Animal Care Services (IACS) before HSotD pulled her. The founder of the rescue is Jane Hullsiek and the rescue is based out of Chesterton in Northwest Indiana (NWI). Mimzy was one of the first animals Jane pulled from Indianapolis.

Mimzy was “rescue only” at the Indy shelter because she had an odd gait caused by an old fracture, with shards of bullet left in the leg. Her walking was very stiff. She had a mammary mass and a possible mass in her thorax. Many staff and volunteers adored Mimzy, with her post describing her as friendly and happy and enjoying meeting everyone in the hallways. She attended a class at IACS about dog training where she was the example dog and did wonderfully as you can see in the photo where she waits patiently, attentive to the instructor. She captured everyone’s hearts at the shelter and many people were so thankful to see she went to rescue, hoping for only good things ahead after her rough start.

Soon after Mimzy was pulled by Humane Society of the Dunes, Jane commented on her IACS Rescue post thanking people who had pledged and donated money for Mimzy’s care, stating the donations were being used for her extensive medical treatment. After that, there were never any updates provided by the rescue about Mimzy.

We are offering $100 for proof of Mimzy’s whereabouts today. She’d be around 10-11 years old now. If you fostered or adopted her, or if you know something, please reach out.
